ALPHA – “It’s friends bringing friends” (Nicky Gumbel)

The ALPHA course was founded at Holy Trinity Brompton in London, England. Although the ALPHA course has been around for 20+ years, it was Nicky Gumbel who saw the potential that ALPHA had for introducing the basic concept of Christian living to people exploring their Christian faith. ALPHA is now being offered around the world and has been specially designed to help you explore many basic questions:

* What is the meaning of life?
* Where is God in my life?
* What is so special about Jesus?
* How do I make sense of the Bible?

We are currently running our 22nsth ALPHA course and it’s the principal of “friends bringing friends” that has led to hundreds of people being blessed through ALPHA at St. Paul’s. The key to ALPHA is the small groups led by small group leaders who ensure that no question is too trivial and where every question is answered courteously and thoughtfully. St. Paul’s strongly encourages new members (and even current members) to start with the ALPHA course.

The evening begins with a light supper at 6:40 p.m. There is a weekend retreat halfway through the ten week session along with a celebration banquet at the end. The atmosphere of the group, sharing bread together, the small group interaction, make ALPHA a rewarding experience for regular parishioners and non-churchgoers alike.
